Improving bone density is crucial to treating and preventing osteoporosis. The five points below cover the basics of how bioDensity works, and highlight the importance of taking a bone density test to prevent becoming disabled with age.
1. Wolff’s Law
Wolff’s Law is the only physiologic law that relates to bone growth and it states that bones remodel and adapt to the loads placed upon them, therefore failure to load bone results in failure to stimulate new bone. If a bone density test determines weakness, it’s important to begin a weekly treatment regimen that allows you to monitor bone mineral growth to improve bone density.
Research in a UK based study of adolescents from 2012 used high speed accelerometers and bone density tests to monitor how dynamic movements effected bone mineral growth. Bone density tests showed that running and jumping that created upwards of 4.2 g’s of impact was positively related to increased hip bone mineral density, meanwhile impacts below this threshold (walking, jogging) may have little benefit or effect on bone mineral density.
This, and other evidence, leads us to believe that loading the body in an anatomically correct position to perform controlled, dynamic movements stimulates bone growth. Using the bioDensity machine, we can perform bone density tests and initiate a treatment regimen based on your unique needs.
3. Pain-Free Treatment
The bioDensity protocol positions individuals at their strongest joint angle in four different exercise positions to stimulate the entire musculoskeletal system under comfortable and pain free isometric max effort that is only required once per week.
4. Biofeedback Technology
To conduct real time bone density tests, biofeedback sensors in the bioDensity machine measure force in pounds during five-second windows of effort calibrated to each individual based on their weekly current progress. This enables us to conduct regular bone density tests that chart bone mineral growth over time. Tests have shown that the bioDensity method of bone density testing improves bone growth in users of all ages.
5. Science-Based Monitoring
Our goal is to achieve force production of 4.2 multiples of bodyweight (MOB) and beyond in all four isometric positions. This satisfies the aforementioned research and Wolff’s Law to adequately predict improved bone mineral density with consistent weekly stimulation.
All of our methods are based on science and clinical evidence, and can help you prevent the struggles associated with osteoporosis. Click here to sign up for a free bone density test and assessment to find out how you can preserve bone strength for better health as you age.
